Don't do that. I have the 2300AD near star list around here someplace.  Let me look around and get back to you. I had a lot of time in college.

2300 uses a slightly modified version of the gliese number. It also used the gleise 2 catalogue (gliese 3 came out after the game).
There were a couple of errors in the Near
Star List. Furthermore, GDW didn't use any particular coordinate system for the data. They spun it round in Macspin until none of the stars overlapped.
I looked into using an established catalogue (gliese 2 being the obvious one) to use in astrosynthesis for 2300ad, but the problems were great enough that I decided it was easier to manually type the near star list into a spreadsheet manually.
I'm about halfway through that, I think.
