I've just started producing a map for a military history which requires me
to trace over a scanned Ordnance Survey map and then delete the scanned map.
I've gone abut this by producing a .bmp of the scanned map, placing a copy
as a background image in FM8 on a layer I have named "Bitmap", then
commencing the tracing of contours on the "Geographic" later.

I would like to hide the Bitmap, so I can see how my traced elements look on
their own. I've tried hiding the "Bitmap" layer but the bitmap remains in
place and visible. I guess I must have done something wrong either by making
the bitmap a background or in the way I have used the layers. Can anyone
advise me on this, please?
