Interesting approach. If anyone has problems selecting the white background
in PSP (I always have difficulty using the magic wand for some reason) you
can achieve a similar thing by setting the transparent colour in the palette
to the background colour - which is white.

The two mapmakers in our Vintyri project group - Trevor Cooke and I - have
found that the best basic tool of all for making PNG raster symbols is FM8
itself. We do the following:

1. Make the image with FM8.

2. Export it at the desired scale as a PNG.

3. If transparency is needed, we open the exported PNG in Paint.NET
(freeware) and create the tansparent layer(s) there, using layers and the
paintbrush tool.

We always get exactly the result we're seeking, and the process is
relatively simple.
