I'm aware of the script, but - as you said - it's anything but a perfect solution.
I've seen places where CC3 is better than FM8 and places where FM8 is better than CC3, but this is one area where CC3 is light years ahead of CC3. It wouldn't matter much if one could position symbols properly at the wrong angle and rotate with them landing in the right place, but that's not the case.
We have more than 200 CC2 Pro maps in distribution, and at least half of them are sideways at a 270° angle to give us a portrait map. Having to _separately_ rotate each symbol is a _tremendous_ amount of extra, superfluous work. For our project group, the inability to set a default angle for symbols is a critical flaw in FM8, the first that I've found, but a big one!
