Sounds like what you're wishing for is a format that will run in "play mode" if not "edit mode" under a commonly existing program, to be found on computers everywhere. That way it becomes like an XL spreadsheet, if you have the data file you can run it on half the computers in the world, needing no more than a single file on a thumb drive.

The problem with that is that parent program has to pretty much be a map projector, no? Unless you can save data so that Google Earth will project it as an overlay, I don't see a solution. For system, cluster or galaxy scale mapping, I bet there's a way to project your data in Celestia. I don't know what it is, but I bet there is one.

However, since Google Earth and Celestia are free programs, to a certain extent that's wishing NBOS would "work itself out of a job", no?

Not gonna happen in a pdf.  besides, if you have the computer to run
the pdf, why not just run the actual program? that's what i'm failing
to track with.
