Re: [nbos] : [FM] FM, ASTRO et al under WINE"Dalton Calford" Mon Sep 17th, 2007
Ok, I run Kubuntu 7.04 on a Acer Aspire 5610 laptop (as well as on ALOT
of other machines....)
I use Codeweavers Wine and VMware for some software.
I run Poser 7 under codeweavers, while I use Vmware for FM8 and AS2.
What is and is not supported comes down to what features the current
users want to develope or pay for.
Vmware is a nice package, runs very fast and the lastest workstation 6
has experimental support for DX9 and OGL within the client machines.
1.) Intel video card (i810 or better like the i945) or nvidea video card
as ATI has until very recently been the worst of the supported cards.
2.) Make sure that all your periphials are supported - the webcam built
into my laptop happens to be the only logitech webcam where the driver
support is not released yet.....
I dumped windows five years ago and I have not regreted it once.
